HUMES BOX CULVERTS FOR NCTIR AT THE PINES, KAIKOURA.
Following the Kaikōura earthquakes and the closure of State Highway 1, we were contracted by NCTIR to construct a culvert beneath both the newly formed highway and the adjacent railway line. This project presented significant challenges due to tight timeframes, high traffic demands, and complex logistics—requiring detailed planning to ensure the best possible outcome.
Situated close to the earthquake-damaged zone and alongside the coastline, the site also demanded careful environmental management. As approved NCTIR contractors, we were proud to contribute to the rebuild effort. The work was successfully delivered in two phases, enabling the timely completion of both the rail and road infrastructure over the Humes box culvert.
